Kharchu only knows what you type into it. Here is exactly what that is, why we keep it, and how to make us forget it.
Who we are
Kharchu is run by [LEGAL ENTITY NAME], [REGISTERED ADDRESS], India (“Kharchu”, “we”). We decide how your data is used, and we answer for it.
What we collect
Only what Kharchu needs to work:
- The spends you log: amount, category, note and date.
- Your phone number, which is how you sign in. We text it a code; there is no password.
- The link that brought you to Kharchu, such as a WhatsApp share, so we know which links work.
What we never collect
Bank, card or UPI details. Your contacts, location or photos. Your messages: on Android, Kharchu can fill in its own sign-in code, and only with your tap.
Why we use it
To save, back up and sync your spends; to sign you in; and to count which links bring people to Kharchu. We do not show ads, and we never sell or share your spends.
Where it’s stored and who helps us
Your data is stored on servers run by [HOSTING PROVIDER] in [REGION]. These companies process data for us and may not use it for anything else:
- [SMS PROVIDER], to send sign-in codes to your phone.
How long we keep it
Account data stays until you delete it. When you delete your account, your data is deleted from our servers straight away and from backups within 30 days.
Your rights
Under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you can ask to see, correct or erase your data, and name someone to act for you. Most of this you can do yourself: Settings has Export CSV and Back up to a file, and Account has Delete account.
For anything else, write to our grievance officer, [GRIEVANCE OFFICER], at [GRIEVANCE EMAIL]. We reply within [N] days.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we use your data, we’ll tell you in the app before it takes effect. Kharchu is not meant for anyone under [AGE].
